GOD ALONE

BABEL

GOD ALONE - "COME. LET US GO DOWN AND CONFUSE THEIR LANGUAGE SO THEY WILLNOT UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER."

In the book of Genesis 11:1-9 The people of Shinar made elaborate plans to build a high tower to reach the heavens. They were confused enough to believe they could bridge the gap between heaven and earth. "But the Lord came down"(v.5) to foil their prideful plans. God alone paves the way between divinity and humanity.

QUESTION: Are we too striving to build a tower to reach God?  We ought not be confused thinking our passions, possessions or positions will get us to heaven. "The Lord came down" and died on a cross so that you and I don’t have to build anything but a person relationship with him.

OBEDIENCE

OBEDIENCE

HERE’S SOMETHING FOR YOU TO CHEW ON

In the book of Genesis 6:22 Noah did everything EXACTLY the way god told him. Can the same be said of us? If we’re honest…probably not.

But do we really want it to be true? Do we love and respect God enough that we would genuinely want to obey him 100 percent?

Let’s assume that we do-but we find it’s easier said than done. Don’t get discouraged. Remember that God has an endless supply of mercy and forgiveness. We are called to confess our failure to him, and know that he will forgive us and give us the grace to try again…and again…and again.

Just don’t give up!

EVE

EVE

WHAT HAPPEN?

You had it all – a great husband, a terrific place to live, friendship with God. What happened?

You’re right. I did have it all. Living in the garden with Adam and having God for company was perfect. Paradise, really. But when that serpent came along and point out the one thing that I didn’t have – well, that’s all I could think about. And oh, that snake was clever. Once he planted the seed, the thoughts kept running through my mind: How could I possibly be happy when I wasn’t allowed to eat from that tree? Why wouldn’t God want me to be just like him? Why couldn’t I have that one thing? I was consumed with it. Nothing would satisfy me until I had it. Or so I though.

What could we say to women who struggle with discontentment?

I suppose we would first ask ourselves, What is MY driving discontentment? Often, we try to fill up our lives with everything but what will really satisfy us.

2nd, guard ourselves against that "got to have it all" feeling. Don’t act on our impulses. Check with God first. Tell him what it is that we’ve "got to have," and let him guide us. Confide in a friend. Find someone who can offer us an objective, rational opinion. Just think what might have been if we had asked God first, or even Adam, about taking that one piece of fruit! And if we’re longing for someone that we are too embarrassed to share with another person, then that should be a red flag.

3rd, focus on what we do have. Make a list, share it with someone, recite it to yourself-whatever you must do to keep in mind all that God has given you. Thank God for everything we have been given. Focus on what we have rather than what we don’t have. The truth is that God had given me everything I needed to be completely happy in this world. He has done the same for you.

HANNAH’S PROPHETIC PRAYER

GOD'S EXORBITANT PROMISES

1 Samuel 1:10-18

Taming the tongue involves knowing that things we should not say to men may often be said to God. Voice any complaints only to the Lord. Remember that vindication comes only from the Lord.

If someone called and said that you’d just won a million dollars, what would your first response be?  "Wow, thanks! I’ll expect it in my bank account today!"  Not likely. Usually when we hear outrageous promises, our cynicism kicks into high gear. This is a natural response to most situations, except one – prayers.

You see, when God makes exorbitant promises (like answering our prayers of faith), he actually means what he says. He’s a real "You just won the jackpot!"  kind of God. When we truly believe this, our response to prayer will be like Hannah’s. We’ll drop our suspicions because we expect God to answer to our good.

FREE INDEED

FREE INDEED

HAVE YOU EVER felt like you’re the only one with something to hide? That sense of isolation magnifies your feelings of guilt.

Satan wants us to feel alone, crippled by a false sense of guilt. Yet the truth is that every person on earth has a "past" – even those we consider "Mother Teresa" types who seemingly never did anything wrong. The book of Genesis describes how we inherited a sinful nature. Adam and Eve instilled a sinful nature into the entire human race. [see Romans 5:12,17].

However, we must understand and accept that we are free from the penalty of our past because we trust Christ’s sacrifice as the ultimate and final payment for sin [see Hebrews 7:27]. Even so, sometimes the pain of our past comes calling. Many women have an emotional disposition or personality type that lends itself to dwelling on bitter memories. Our adversary, the devil, tempts our thoughts with guilt over past deeds.
Satan tries to slip the chains of guilt back on our shoulders. And sometimes we again pick up those old familiar chains-our guilt feels so comfortable that we revert to it out of habit. But Christ has set us free!  He paid the FULL penalty for our sins. Every wrong thought, word or action – all paid for.

Don’t believe the lie. God set you and me free; Christ died that we would be free – but we must choose to live that way.

"SO IF THE SON SETS

YOU FREE, YOU WILL BE FREE INDEED."

THE CREATOR

Creator

Genesis 1:1 God, the creator of everything. He who decided that should be and they were. He who set the hands of time in motion. The One whose imagination created the heavens and the earth and all they contain: stars, plants, seasons, trees…penguins. When he reviewed his creation, God saw that "it was very good" (v.31).

God, who created everything, created everyone – including you. You may look in the mirror and see flaws. But God designed every freckle, every wrinkle, ever crinkle and even numbered the hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). When he created you, he considered it "very good."

Do you?

THE TEMPTATION TO JUDGE

When they continued to ask Jesus their question,
he raised up and said, "Anyone here who has never sinned
can throw the first stone at her "
-
JOHN 8:13 NCV

T
he warning of Matthew 7:1 is clear: "Judge not, that ye be not judged" (KJV). Yet even the most devoted Christians may fall prey to a powerful yet subtle temptation: the temptation to judge others. Bu as obedient followers of Christ, we are commanded to refrain from such behavior.

As Jesus came upon a young woman who had been condemned by the Pharisees, He spoke not only to the crowd that was gathered there, but also to all generations when He warned, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a ston at her" (John 8:7 KJV). Christ’s message is clear, and it applies not only to the Pharisees of ancient times, but also to us.

. Forget the faults of others by remembering your own.

DISCOVERING GOD’S PLAN

It is God who is at work in us,
both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
-
PHILIPPIANS 2:13 NASB

I
f we seek to live in accordance with God’s will for our life – and we should – then we will in accordance with His commandments. We will study God’s Word, and we will be watchful for His signs. We will associate with fellow Christians who will encourage our spiritual growth, and we will listen to that inner voice that speaks to us in the quiet moments of our daily devotionals.

God intends to use us in wonderful, unexpected ways if we let Him. The decision to seek God’s plan and to follow it is ours and ours alone. The consequences of that decision have implications that are both profound and eternal, so_

SOLITUDE WITH GOD

ONE MUST LEARN AN INNER SOLITUDE, WHERE OR WITH WHOMSOEVER HE MAY BE. HE MUST LEARN TO PENETRATE THGS AND FIND GOD THERE, TO GET A STRONG IMPRESSION OF GOD FIRMLY FIXED ON HIS MIND.
