GOD'S EXORBITANT PROMISES
1 Samuel 1:10-18
Taming the tongue involves knowing that things we should not say to men may often be said to God. Voice any complaints only to the Lord. Remember that vindication comes only from the Lord.
If someone called and said that you’d just won a
million dollars, what would your first response be? "Wow, thanks! I’ll
expect it in my bank account today!"
Not likely. Usually when we hear outrageous promises, our cynicism
kicks into high gear. This is a natural response to most situations, except one
– prayers.
You see, when God makes exorbitant
promises (like answering our prayers of faith), he actually means what he says.
He’s a real "You just won the jackpot!" kind of God. When we truly believe this,
our response to prayer will be like Hannah’s. We’ll drop our suspicions because
we expect God to answer to our good.
In Christ,
